MEASURING CARPENTRY AND MOTHERHOOD |
December 24, 2005 |
|
The Christmas Eve eMo is always a poem -- selecting it is one of the greater pleasures the season affords. I am happy, this Christmas of 2005, to present the work of Harvey Mozolak. Besides having written a wonderful poem, he has the added distinction of being the only poet I have ever featured in an eMo -- besides myself -- who is still alive!
_measuring carpentry
and motherhood_
the unstable matter
black hole
of divine omnipotence
filled with a meal of milk
on a lap of dried cattle grass
in a feed trough
under the arms
of a pale young woman
weakened by the child's travel
and a man
with hands as rough as wood
attempting to plane tenderness
-Harvey S. Mozolak
